Summary: Every month your employer deposits 8% of your gross salary into your FGTS account — it is not deducted from your pay. If you're dismissed without cause, the employer also pays a 40% fine on the accumulated balance. Example: R$3,000 salary for 24 months = R$5,760 in deposits, plus a R$2,304 fine if dismissed without cause.

How is this calculated?

Monthly deposit = gross salary × 8%, paid by the employer into your Caixa FGTS account (on top of your salary — never deducted from it). Projected balance = existing balance + deposits × months.

On dismissal without cause, the employer pays a fine of 40% of the total accumulated balance directly to you. This projection does not include FGTS yield (TR + 3% per year plus profit distributions), so your real balance will be slightly higher over long periods.

Frequently asked questions

When can I withdraw my FGTS?

Main cases include dismissal without cause, buying a first home, retirement, serious illness, and the optional birthday-withdrawal scheme (saque-aniversário). Quitting voluntarily does not release the balance.

Does the 13th salary and vacation pay also generate FGTS?

Yes — the employer deposits 8% on the 13th salary and on vacation pay too, so your actual balance grows a bit faster than this simple monthly projection.

This calculator provides a simplified projection that excludes FGTS yield and deposits on 13th salary/vacation pay. Check your exact balance in the official FGTS app from Caixa Econômica Federal.
